Urgent Care—for Pets? Because They’re Family.
Our pets are part of the family, and just like us, they can get sick or hurt when we least expect it—especially outside of regular vet hours.
That’s why we’re creating Community Pet ER & Urgent Care, the flagship program of Wyoming Veterinary Outreach, a nonprofit that is creating a sustainable, compassionate solution to a long-standing gap in care.
We’re aiming to open our doors in Spring 2026,
and we can’t wait to support the pets (and people) of our community!
For over 30 years, Teton County’s three veterinary clinics have worked to provide after-hours care by rotating weekend on-call duties. Despite best intentions, these efforts have not proven sustainable. The most recent arrangement placed a disproportionate burden on one clinic, which covered nearly two-thirds of the shifts—resulting in staff burnout, morale challenges, and attrition.
Currently, the three clinics share on-call coverage for the general public during summer weekends only. On weeknights, each clinic is only able to care for their own patients until 10 PM. After that, the closest emergency option is in Idaho Falls—85 miles away.
The Community Pet Clinic will be here for you when your regular vet’s office is closed—just like a pet ER in a bigger city. We’re here to provide after-hours care and peace of mind, so your veterinary team can get the rest they need and be ready to care for your pet during the day. If your pet needs to stay overnight, we’ll make sure they’re safely discharged before 8 AM—either to head home or to continue care with your regular vet.
Hours of Operation
After-Hours Urgent Care & Walk-Ins
Monday - Saturday: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00AM-10:00 PM
Emergency Services
Everyday from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM
Our team will be on-site and available for urgent and emergency care, however we will not be open to walk-in traffic during these hours. Pet owners must call to contact the onsite veterinary team during these hours.
Services We Offer
Hospitalization
If your pet needs to stay overnight, we’ll provide the same high-quality care they’d receive at your regular veterinary clinic during the day. This includes IV fluids, supportive treatments, and close monitoring to make sure they’re stable and comfortable through the night.
Urgent Care Visits
We’re here for those unexpected moments—when something just can’t wait. Examples include:
Possible toxin exposure
Cuts or wounds that may need stitches
Any issue you believe needs attention before your vet is available the next day
Emergency Services
We’re equipped to handle serious, time-sensitive situations, such as:
Trauma (e.g., hit by a car, animal fights)
Trouble breathing
Seizures
Severe or ongoing vomiting or dry heaving
Sudden swelling or bloating in the belly
Difficulty urinating (especially in male cats and dogs)
Any urgent concern that you believe needs immediate medical care
We’ll also triage and stabilize patients who can safely wait to be seen by their regular vet when their clinic reopens.
