Our Programs

Veterinary Professional Support

Wyoming Veterinary Outreach is dedicated to alleviating the heavy burden on veterinary professionals. We recognize that demanding schedules, stress, and limited resources contribute to burnout, turnover, and the risk of mental health struggles, sometimes tragically leading to suicide. Our commitment involves supporting well-being and building a more sustainable career path.

To transform veterinary care in Wyoming by delivering essential after-hours urgent care services and by investing in the professionals who provide that care, ensuring a sustainable and compassionate system for both pets and people.

Community Pet ER & Urgent Care

Wyoming Veterinary Outreach is responding to a long-standing crisis in after-hours veterinary care. Currently, emergency care is limited to summer weekends until 10 PM, and beyond those hours, the closest option is a daunting 85 miles away in Idaho Falls. Community Pet ER & Urgent Care is poised to address these critical gaps, providing much-needed relief and expanded access to care.

  • “I believe strong communities take care of everyone—including our animals and the professionals who care for them. I am a financial supporter and joined the board of WVO because we have an opportunity to build something that solves an immediate crisis and invests in the long-term health of our region. This clinic will make a difference not just for pets, but for every veterinary worker trying to stay in a field they love.”

  • “I joined the board of Wyoming Veterinary Outreach because I’ve seen firsthand how hard it is to get urgent care for pets in our community—and how burned out our veterinary teams have become trying to fill that gap. This clinic isn’t just about treating emergencies. It’s about creating a system that takes care of both pets and the people who care for them. That’s the kind of change I want to be part of.”

  • "Providing after-hours veterinary care in this valley has been a challenge for decades. We’ve asked veterinarians to work long days, then get called in during the middle of the night for emergencies—only to return to work again the next morning. It’s exhausting, unsustainable, and it’s one of the key reasons it’s so hard to hire and retain qualified staff.

With a nationwide shortage of veterinarians and technicians, professionals are choosing jobs where they’re not expected to be on call 24/7—because in most places, emergency clinics already exist.

An after-hours clinic right here in Jackson will make a world of difference. It means we can care for our patients with the attention and energy they deserve—and it means our local veterinary teams can finally work in an environment that respects their wellbeing, too.
